Burton Art Gallery, Bideford and Tapely Park

|

Friday 8 July 2011 - 10:30 until 16:30

The Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers will be holding their annual exhibition at the Burton Art Gallery, which has a new room displaying its entire collection of North Devon ceramics, including the RJ Lloyd collection, which has been purchased with the assistance of the Art Fund.

From there we go to Tapeley Park, which has extensive formal, terraced gardens and stunning views over the Torridge estuary to the sea. It was featured in the Channel 4 programme Country House Rescue in March. Hector Christie will show us round his house, which contains William Morris and arts and crafts furniture. There will also be time to explore the gardens.

There will be coffee on arrival at the Burton Art Gallery and a buffet lunch of home-reared and cured beef and ham (including a glass of wine) and a cream tea in The Barn at Tapeley.
