From military hero to beast-of-burden, exploring how British artists depicted the horse at war.
Artists featured include William Roberts, Sir Alfred Munnings and Lucy Kemp-Welch. 'Joey’, the life-size puppet from the stage production of War Horse is also on display, shown alongside drawings by illustrator and theatre designer, Rae Smith.
To complement the exhibition, The Lightbox brings together documents, newspaper reports and other ephemera that recall the role that horses and other animals played during the First World War, both on the front line and more locally.
