To accompany the exhibition Coast, Country, City, curator and art historian James Rawlin, will introduce the exhibition during this lunchtime online talk.
Coast, Country, City is the second exhibition in a year-long residency of The Jerwood Collection at The Harley Gallery. James has selected modern and contemporary landscape paintings by British artists. He is interested in exploring how living through lockdown has changed our perception of our landscape.
"These landscape paintings predate the strange time of 2020. I’m interested in whether our experiences of the year changes how we view these landscapes. Not only this, how might they differ from the artist’s original interpretation?”
James was Head of Modern and Post-War British Art at Sotheby's for a decade, and now his consultancy assists with the development of collections, locates lost works of art and curates exhibitions.
