Discover clothing and fashion from a selection of past residents of Eastbury, featuring heritage reproductions of costumes through the ages.
This exhibition sheds light on some of the people who lived and worked at Eastbury. Their clothing has been creatively reimagined and is on display, alongside clues to their lives and activities woven into the fabric of their garments and accessories for you to find.
Their lives span a period of great change and uncertainty for Eastbury as it ceased to be a viable farming business or home. These four people witnessed the transformation of the surrounding landscape from open countryside to urban housing as the 20th century began. Discover more about their experiences and personalities as you explore the exhibition.
Students on the Costume Construction course at South Essex College worked with the team at Eastbury to research, design and make each outfit.
Eastbury Makers is part of a larger project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, to restore, discover and celebrate one of London's lost landscapes.
