Auckland Castle and the Zurbarans

Tour | Aukland Castle

Monday 26 September 2011 - 14:00 until 16:30

Viewing of the public rooms and chapel of Auckland Castle. The Zurbaran painting were purchased by Bishop Richard Trevor in 1756, and was considered an act of solidarity with the Jewish community in 18th century Europe.

The Zubaran paintings are a mark of the Bishop's clear position regarding social, religious, racial and political tolerance. Elizabeth Conran will be on hand to answer any questions regarding the collection alongside a team of volunteer guides.
