Hemingford Grey Manor and Island Hall, Godmanchester

| Godmanchester

Two small houses with riverside gardens in Huntingdonshire. Hemingford Grey is a delightful village. The Manor is said to be the oldest continually occupied house in the country. It has Norman origins, but has been much changes and altered over the years. It is full of mementoes of Lucy Boston, who told the story of growing up in the house in her Green Knowe books. Isalnd Hall is a red brick Georgian House in the Baroque style by Thomas Archer. The name derives from the greater part fo the garden which is on the island in the Great Ouse reached by a Chinese Bridge over the Mill Race. Lunch has been arranged at the Cock Inn in Hemingford Grey.
