A new age for the art of painting, a modern generation of artists use this classic discipline to weave social and political narratives, demonstrating the constantly evolving potential of painting as a medium in art today.

Breathing new life into an artistic discipline that has stood the test of time, despite being pronounced dead in 1980’s, a new generation of artists revive the art of painting, using their canvases to convey important political and social commentary.

Featuring poignant works inspired by current events, such as Daniel Richter’s portrayal of the migrant crisis, Michael Armitage’s narratives of violence and politics in East Africa and Christina Quarles’ polymorphous nudes, the artists featured share a common goal – to use their art to tell the stories of our time and to elevate painting as the medium with which to do so.
