Marvel at over 50 Impressionist artworks by Degas, shown together for the first time
Get up close to the Burrell Collection's stunning holdings of 23 Degas masterpieces, alongside 50 other works of art spanning painting, works on paper, and sculptures, on loan from significant national and international collections, made possible by the Weston Loan Programme with Art Fund.
Degas, a pioneering artist of his time, revolutionised the portrayal of modern life in Paris, charting a distinctive course apart from his fellow Impressionists. Paintings, pastels and drawings include all the artist's most recognisable motifs: ballet dancers, bathers, jockeys and women at work. His tireless exploration of artistic materials, with a special fondness for pastels over traditional oil paints, further underscores his innovative spirit.
