NOW: Jenny Saville and others

Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art

24 March – 16 September 2018

Experience Jenny Saville’s formidable, massive-scale paintings in person at this first ever museum exhibition of her work in Scotland.

Jenny Saville, Rosetta II, 2005-06

British artist Jenny Saville has gained an international reputation for her powerful, grand-scale paintings over the 25 years of her career.

Best known for her monumental depictions of the naked female form in close-up, Saville is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art – but has not been the focus of a museum exhibition of her work in Scotland until now.

Showcasing paintings and drawings spanning from 1992 to 2017 and demonstrating the singular ambition and dynamism of Saville’s work, this exhibition spans five rooms of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and places the artist alongside major new works, installations and photography from five other artists preoccupied with the body, performance, process and materiality: Sara Barker, Christine Borland, Robin Rhode, Markus Schinwald, Catherine Street, and others.
