Will Gompertz described The Hepworth Wakefield as “one of the most exciting places for the study and display of modern to contemporary sculpture in Europe” There will be guided group tours of the rooms devoted to Barbara Hepworth’s life and work following and free time in the gallery.

In the afternoon we shall visit the nearby National Trust property of Nostell Priory, famous for its Adam decoration and Chippendale furniture. Amongst many art treasures is the masterpiece by Pieter Breughel The Procession to Calvary, saved for the nation with a successful Art Fund appeal in 2010.

This event has been organised by the Durham and Cleveland Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
