The Art of Golf - Exhibition Private View and Tour

Private View | Scottish National Gallery

Tuesday 15 July 2014 - 18:00 until 20:00

This landmark exhibition tells the story of the birth and evolution of Scotland’s national sport by bringing together magnificent paintings and extraordinary photographs of unique significance within the game’s history. The Art of Golf will showcase works of art from the 17th century through to the present day.

The centrepiece will be the world’s greatest golfing painting, Charles Lee’s The Golfers 1847, which depicts a match played on the Old Course at St Andrews. Amongst the other artists represented in the show will be Rembrandt van Rijn, Hendrick Avercamp, Paul Sandby, Sir Henry Raeburn and John Lavery.

Join us for drinks, followed by a curatorial talk from Michael Clarke CBE about this exciting showcase exhibition and an exclusive private view.

This event has been organised by the Edinburgh Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
