This exhibition brings together works of art that portray the declining years of the coal mining industry.
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Miners’ Strike of 1984-85, this exhibition brings together works of art that portray the declining years of the coal mining industry, as mining artists sought to record an industry and way of life before it was lost forever.
It offers an insight into the impact of closures on communities and landscapes, and reveals the Miners’ Strike from the perspective of coalfield artists who witnessed it.
