Stockport Plaza

Visit | Stockport Plaza

Thursday 19 April 2012 - 14:00 until 16:00

The Plaza began a programme of entertainment never seen before in Stockport with a mix of cinema and live performance.

The Plaza first opened its doors to the public on 6th October 1932, with a charity show for Stockport Infirmary.

The dramatic front elevation, in white terracotta, was originally illuminated by 300 feet of red and green neon lighting and it is planned to restore this as part of the proposed renovation works.

Situated in the heart of Stockport, in Mersey Sqare, this 1932 super cinema noe functions not only as a cinema but theatre, cafe, community centre and is undergoing gradual restoration to its Art Deco glory days
