HQS Wellington is the Livery Hall of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, a young livery company that was established in 1926 to protect and promote the interests of the British Merchant Navy. The company’s home, HQS Wellington, was built in 1934 and the vessel saw service during the Second World War, primarily in the North Atlantic on convoy escort duties. The ship was extensively refitted in 1991, and visitors can enjoy imaginative displays of the Company’s marine paintings and artefacts, gold and silver plate, ship models and some very early 18th-century charts that have only recently been discovered.
