Visit: Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, Durham

Bowes Museum was created over a hundred years ago by John and Josephine Bowes, and houses a vast collection of furniture, paintings, sculpture, ceramics and textiles from an extensive range of European styles and periods. Enjoy an exclusive tour of the new Textile and Dress Gallery, which displays 1930s evening dresses by one of Europe's greatest couturiers, Madeleine Vionnet, and hear a talk by the curator, Joanna Hasehegan. Visitors will also be shown other highlights from the museum's collection, including the famous Silver Swan and paintings by Goya and Canelleto.
