Lecture: 'Cuban Architectural Panorama' - a lecture by Dr. Mervyn Miller

| Burchatts Barn

Cuba offers a rich architectural and cultural heritage, dating back to the Spanish colonisation of the 16th century. European styles such as Baroque and Neo-Classical were overlaid with Latin American exuberance. After the Spanish-American War, Cuba was granted formal independence, but influence from the USA remained dominant. More recently, the communist period under Fidel Castro has added further distinctive strands to the architectural tapestry of this fascinating island.
