Explore beauty's evolution through history and culture, prompting reflection on established myths and society standards.
This major new exhibition delves into the concept of beauty across time and cultures. What are the driving forces that lead us to believe in a myth of universal beauty, despite its evolving nature? The underlying forces that shape this ideal will be examined through a collection of over two hundred items, including historical artefacts, artworks, films, and newly commissioned pieces.
It also delves into the impact of morality, status, health, age, race, and gender on the evolution of beauty standards. The Cult of Beauty encourages visitors to challenge established norms and contemplate broader, more inclusive definitions of beauty.
