A tour of The Royal Hospital, Chelsea, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, which will include a unique chance to see the portraits by Kneller, Van Dyck and Lely in the beautiful State Apartments and Council Chamber which also holds superb furniture designed by Robert Adam plus carving in wood by William Emmet who worked with Grinling Gibbons.

The group will be guided round by General Sir Jeremy Mackenzie, former Governor of the Royal Hospital. He will also take the group through to Figure Court and into the Great Hall (with the mural of Charles II by Antonio Verio) and the Chapel where Sebastiano Ricci’s painting of the Resurrection adorns the apse.

The tour will also include a visit to the Museum and the new Margaret Thatcher Infirmary (to view the portraits in the entrance hall) built by Quinlan Terry. To finish, tea will be available to buy in the café.

This event has been organised by the Dorset Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
