Hidden gardens of the Square Mile, London
Guided Tour | The Square Mile
Wednesday 6 May 2015 - 11:00 until 12:45
When many of the narrow streets of the pre-war City of London were destroyed in the Blitz, the City Corporation decided to create ‘breathing spaces’ in the City. Now in the most unexpected places, nestling in old churchyards and between 21st century glass edifices are a range of small but beautifully landscaped and planted gardens. This private guided walk concentrates on exploring these gardens, showing unusual views and talking about the history of the city from a different viewpoint.
The walk ends with a Turkish meze lunch near St Pauls, if desired.
This event has been organised by the Oxfordshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
