Staffordshire Hoard

Private View | The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery

Friday 26 October 2012 - 18:30

Join the Staffordshire Branch of the Art Fund and the Friends of the Potteries Museum for a private view of specially chosen artefacts from one of Britain's most significant discoveries of Anglo-Saxon treasure. The Staffordshire Hoard was saved by the Art Fund in 2010, but the new exhibition 'Staffordshire Hoard: Dark Age Discovery' will display many artefacts which were previously kept behind for scientific analysis.

Museum Collections Officer and Archaeologist Deb Klemperer will give a short lecture about the findings which have intrigued archaeologists and historians alike. Sculptor Christopher Dean has been commissioned to produce minutely accurate and life-sized replicas of some of the Staffordshire Hoard's most fascinating items which will mean visitors will be able to touch and feel the intricacies of these ancient designs.

This event has been organised by a local supporter help group to raise money for the Art Fund.
