Event: Garden Party at Ravensford Farm
| Ravensford Farm
By kind permission of the owners, Jonathan and Caroline Peacock, this joint event for all the Northern regions, will be held in the garden of Ravensford Farm. The Farm is a typical, traditional County Durham farmhouse of probably late 17th century origin, though records go back to the early 15th century. With the exception of one ancient apple tree, however, the garden is recent creation, having been developed from scratch by the present owners over the past 25 years.
Caroline will give a talk in the house with the title 'Painshill: A Landscape of Perfection' and is about the recently restored landscape garden created by the Hon Charles Hamilton between 1738 and 1773 near Cobham in Surrey. It was in its time -and remains- probably the most important, romantic and imaginative landscape garden in Europe and is now applying for World Heritage Status.
A number of other events will be taking place for the rest of the afternoon, including the opportunity to have antiques valued, as arranged by Peter Robinson, Director of Thomas Watson and Sons, Darlington.
