Visit to Whitworth Art Gallery, Lowry Centre and Imperial War Museum, Manchester

With pick-ups at Thirsk and the Vue Cinema, Clifton Moor, York, visitors will travel by coach to the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester. After coffee the curators will give a guided tour of the historic collection, with its strong emphasis on British watercolours. This will be followed by either the textile/wall-paper collection or the visiting exhibition.

A buffet lunch, included in the cost, supplied by the Gallery’s award-winning caterers, will be taken in the newly decorated Worthington Room.

After lunch, travel to the Lowry at Salford Quays to tour Michael Wilford’s stunning building and the permanent collection of Lowry Favourites. Then take either the short walk to the Imperial War Museum or, in case of inclement weather, or for those who do not wish to walk, travel by coach.

At the museum there will be a short introductory talk by the curator, before time to take an individual tour of the building and self-funded tea in the caf.
