Showcasi Barking & Dagenham's history through exhibition that imagines merged past and present, and a spoken word open event.
SNS x LBBD: Idols will showcase Barking and Dagenham's history through an exhibition that imagines a merged past and present, and a spoken word open mic event, hosted by Dauda Ladejobi and Steve Lawes.
Eastbury Manor House will play host to an exhibition of new artwork and spoken word made by Dauda Ladejobi and Steve Lawes in collaboration with members of the Barking and Dagenham community. The evening will also feature Spoken Not Stirred, one of LBBD's premier spoken word open mic events!
The exhibition of new works is a tongue-in-cheek faux-museum installation which imagines a fusing of Barking's past and present timelines, bringing our history a new sense of relevance in the here and now. With "artefacts" co-created by members of the local community, you will explore modern day issues and their connection to Barking and Dagenham's rich past. The night will also see the unveiling of a brand new Tudor-inspired wall hanging for the house, as well as a new spoken word piece that fuses the old and new through stories and ideas shared by residents.
