The first museum exhibition to focus on Man Ray's photographic portraits brings together some of his most famous images with the first UK outings for images of Barbette, Catherine Deneuve, Ava Gardner, Lee Miller and Kiki de Montparnasse.

This exhibition brings together some of his most famous portraits of his lover and collaborator Lee Miller. We visited Miller’s home in Sussex, and you can watch her son, Antony Penrose, discuss her complex relationship with Man Ray through personal letters, photographic portraits and even a forgotten suitcase.

Don't miss

Although he never ranked photography as his main artistic outlet, this body of work forms a fascinating record of iconic personalities from both the Paris inter-war avant-garde and the Golden Age of Hollywood. Many of his Hollywood portraits will be on show for the first time, and they will rub shoulders with figures including Marcel Duchamp, Jean Cocteau, Picasso, Erik Satie, and Aldous Huxley.

Before heading to the show, discover the weird and wonderful connections between his most famous subjects.
