This event series is part poetry reading, part open mic, with the guest poet and theme changing each month.
Our 2021 contemporary poetry reading series, Go to the poets, they will speak to thee, is curated and hosted by poet, Kim Moore. We will be listening to what poets have to say about our turbulent times, and how poetry can cross borders to challenge, delight and inspire us.
In the poem ‘Tintern Abbey’, William Wordsworth described how being at peace in the natural world allowed him to "see into the life of things”. This month we invite you to bring a poem to the open mic that does the same – how can poetry see into the life of things?
Our featured guest poet is Seán Hewitt, who will be launching his much anticipated debut collection Tongues of Fire (Cape 2020). Seán’s work is sensuous and lyrical, using prayers, vespers and incantations to move from the physical to the spiritual, whilst always paying close attention to the natural world.
