This event provides an unusual opportunity to find out more about the recycling of mixed household waste.

Exeter's Materials Reclamation Facility (MRF) was commissioned in 2001 and now processes more than 10,000 tonnes of mixed recyclable items. Manual and automatic segregation methods are used. Paper, cardboard, plastic and steel are separated by a TiTech optical sorter.

See the various processes and find out more about what happens to the waste materials after sorting and how much they are then worth.

Stout shoes are essential for this visit. The MRF is noisy, dirty and smelly so this event is not for the faint hearted.

This event has been organised by the Devon Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
