Lecture: Van Eyck and the Pre-Raphaelites by Anna Maddison
Lecture | Willington Hall Hotel
Wednesday 22 November 2017 - 14:00 until 16:00
The lecture coincides with the major National Gallery exhibition "Reflections: Van Eyck and the Pre-Raphaelites" which considers the impact of Jan Van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait upon the formation and development of Pre-Raphaelitism as an avant-garde movement of the Victorian period. The Arnolfini Portrait proved to be a significant influence upon the evolution of Pre-Raphaelite form, technique, style and symbolism.
Dr. Anna Maddison is an Art Historian who specialises in the art and literature of the Victorian era, in particular the Pre-Raphaelites and Aestheticism. She teaches at both Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores Universities.
This event has been organised by the Cheshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
