The Royal Society 11am - SOLD OUT
Visit | The Royal Society
Tuesday 26 July 2016 - 11:00 until 12:00
Founded in 1660 by 12 scientists including Christopher Wren and Robert Boyle, the Royal Society is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence. Its history will be told on this private tour of its home in Carlton House Terrace, including the lavish ‘Italian palazzo’ interiors of number 6, commissioned around 1890 by Charles Henry Sanford, features from the original Nash interior in number 7 and, in numbers 8 and 9, evidence of its previous use as the German Embassy. Treasures from the society’s book and archive collections will be specially produced for the visit.
This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
