Tour of Exposed: The Body in Art from Durer to Freud

Private View | Herbert Art Gallery & Museum

Saturday 5 April 2014 - 10:30

Sixty works by artists such as Picasso, Bacon and Rembrandt reveal a range of different responses to the human body. As well as looking at how the body has been a focus of artistic observation throughout history, the display picks out examples that depict visions of an 'ideal body', mutations of the body and how the body has been used as a vehicle for imagination and fantasy.

A series of notable artists feature, including Albrecht Dürer, Auguste Rodin, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Barbara Hepworth, Helen Chadwick and Lucian Freud. We will be led on a tour of the exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry by Curator Rosie Addenbrooke.
