Day visit to Levens Hall and Holker Hall in Cumbria

| Levens Hall

Levens is Elizabethan, comfortable and intimate, belonging to the Bagot family and full of historic details to be described on this guided tour. The famous topiary gardens may then be explored before a self-service lunch. Then on to Holker Hall owned by the Cavendish family. This had to be partially rebuilt after a fire in 1871, but done in sumptuous style. The contents are fine as many derived from the Devonshire family. The gardens at both Halls are the only ones in Cumbria earning 2 stars in the Good Gardens Guide, so hope for good weather when much should be in bloom.

Non-members welcome.
