Walk: Historic Smithfield

Dr Simon Bradley is an editor on the Pevsner Architectural Guides, for which he revised the volumes on the City of London and Westminster. His special interests include the Gothic Revival, railway history and London’s architecture.

His walk will explore the historic Smithfield district of the City of London, with its extraordinary treasury of buildings: the great church and monastery of St Bartholomew, the stately Georgian hospital nearby, London's grandest Victorian market complex, and the varied and inventive architecture in between.
