Running Int' Fells: Cook out in with Fell Foodie and Alex Staniforth

16 May 2024
18:00-19:30

Running Int' Fells and The Armitt present the next event in their programme of events - Cook Out in!

As part of our “Running Int’ Fells” events programme for mental health in May, Alex Staniforth and Harrison Ward will share their stories about how getting out into the fells – running, swimming, walking – have helped them to push through times of struggle.

This event will comprise of a Q&A discussion, film showing and a cooking activity which will be shared with the audience at the end of the event (ingredients and food allergens can be found in the T&Cs).

About the speakers

Harrison Ward, AKA Fell Foodie, is an outdoor cooking expert and author of the ultimate outdoor adventure cookbook ‘Cook Out’. He is also a huge advocate for time outdoors for mental and physical wellbeing as it aided his recovery from alcoholism, obesity and as a management tool for a clinical depression diagnosis. He has featured on the BBC on Dame Mary Berry's series ‘Love to Cook’, Channel 5 on ‘Winter on the Farm’ and has been an Ordnance Survey Champion since 2020.

Alex Staniforth is a record-breaking adventurer, motivational speaker, author and founder of the mental health charity, 'Mind Over Mountains'. Now based in Kendal, he is usually found running or open water swimming around the local fells. Alex will be sharing his latest film 'Head Above Water' which explores his comeback from Long Covid to complete the Frog Graham Round - a 40-mile swimrun challenges in the Lake District - and how spending time in the outdoors has been transformational for his own mental health and others.
