Home to a world-class collection of aircraft, aviation artefacts and memorabilia.

From daredevil early aviators to wartime heroes, the museum tells the story of the Royal Air Force and its impact in the world. As well as celebrating the pioneers who helped shape the course of aviation, displays also highlight the contribution of the many thousands of ordinary service men and women who have dedicated their career to the force.

Permanent collection

The museum opened in 1972 with 36 aircraft in its hangars, and its collection has grown to include more than 130 examples. They are joined by archival film, artwork, engines, missiles, photographs, medals and uniforms.
