Fast x Slow Fashion explores how clothes shopping in Leeds has transformed, both in scale and the way we have developed as consumers.

Leeds City Museum delves into the public’s changing relationship with clothes shopping in the city, from the 'slow fashion' of the 1700s, when most clothes were bought tailor-made, to today’s world of mass production and rapidly changing trends.

The display shows the importance of Leeds as a city heavily involved in the manufacture and trading of clothes during the 1700s and looks at what the past can teach us about making fashion more sustainable in the present.

The exhibition can be explored online through Leeds Museums & Galleries website, and the museum is also looking for new objects and stories to refresh the display, which is set to be extended until the winter.
