Highlights from the world’s oldest surviving photographic society are used to chart the creation, innovation and versatility of the medium.

Included are many of the defining names of the last century: Lewis Carroll, Roger Fenton, Ansel Adams, Don McCullin and Martin Parr among them. Their work spans landscapes, still lives, nudes, portraits, photo-reportage and composites and, seen here together, provides a fascinating account of the history of photographic practice.
