Young people in King’s Lynn aged 12-25 can try out their art skills for free with Norfolk landscape artist Mary Blue and Kick the Dust youth engagement initiative.

Norfolk artist Mary Blue will run free, ticketed practical art sessions for ages 12-25, to uncover the techniques the artists used and to give young people the opportunity to experiment with making paintings and drawings of their own.

Participants will get up close to JMW Turner’s 1806 oil painting of Walton Bridges, which is the star artwork on show at the museum’s JMW Turner: Moods Of Water exhibition this summer.

Turner has always been especially admired as a painter of earth, air, fire and water. Many other artists were also deeply inspired by the ways in which he captured these fundamentals of nature. This show compares how artists who either influenced Turner, or were influenced by him, portrayed the element of water. The exhibition, runs from 25th June to 15th October 2022.
