In conjunction with the exhibition to be held from 27th March at Tate Britain, this lecture explores the impact Britain had on van Gogh. It is little known that between 1873 and 1876, van Gogh spent 3 formative years in London. He was strongly influenced by Constable and Millais as well as the literary works of Charles Dickens. He collected British graphics and prints and, in turn was to influence British artists such as Walter Sickert, Francis Bacon and the Camden Town Group - a wide ranging talk.
