Picasso Portraits: a Curator's perspective, by Elizabeth Cowling
Talk | Royal Over-Seas League
Wednesday 7 December 2016 - 18:30 until 20:00
Curator Elizabeth Cowling takes us behind the scenes and reveals the story behind the making of the National Portrait Gallery’s Picasso Portraits exhibition. This major show focuses on the artist’s portrayal of family, friends and lovers, revealing his creative processes as he moved freely between drawing from life, humorous caricature and expressive painting from memory. Forming the displays are portraits from all periods of the artist’s career, from the realist paintings of his boyhood to his later ultra-spontaneous canvases, some of which have never been shown in the United Kingdom before.
This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
