A curators tour of the ' Lowry by the Sea' exhibition at the Jerwood Gallery in Old Town Hastings

Talk and Tour | The Jerwood Gallery

Wednesday 19 August 2015 - 13:30 until 15:30

Lawrence Stephen Lowry RA (1887 - 1976) is one of the most celebrated British artists, though much less is known or understood about his range of sea paintings. Lowry's sea paintings have often been exhibited within the context of his wider treatment of landscape and industrial district scenes of North west England but rarely has his deeper relationship with the British seaside been explored.

The group will have a tour of this very interesting two room exhibition by it's curator Victoria Howarth.

The gallery opens at 11am and your ticket will allow you entry at any time in the day to include two other exhibitions also on at the Jerwood: Rachel Howard, a young British artist producing textural and delicate paintings and especially commissioned work by Quentin Blake.

This event has been organised by the Sussex Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
