'Jean Muir: A Fashion Icon' and 'Treasured'

In recognition of her close links with Scotland and the Museum Harry Leuckert, Jean Muir’s widower and former business partner, generously donated the Jean Muir archive to the National Museums of Scotland in 2005. Jean Muir: A Fashion Icon presents selected highlights from this priceless collection. It will contain elements of her design, manufacturing and marketing process, showcasing sketches, pattern pieces, a toile, fabric samples and 30 finished garments and accessories.

The evening will begin with a reception in the Hawthornden Court during which the curator will give members an insight into the creation of the Jean Muir exhibition. She will then conduct 3 timed tours of the show for groups of 20, each lasting approximately half an hour. Throughout the evening it will be possible to view the just newly-opened display entitled Treasured – a spectacular collection of 300 pieces from the Royal Museum brought together for the public, while the Victorian building is transformed into a museum for the 21st century.
