A York School of Painters?
| Knavesmire Lodge
Darrell Buttery, who has made a study of York Topographical Painters will give an illustrated talk in his own house, an 1833 villa, using slides and original pictures. He will discuss whether a school of topographical painters existed in York in the late 18th and 19th centuries, citing the work of the watercolourists William Boddy and Tom Dudley. Paintings by some of these and other artists will be on sale for the Art Fund. His talk will be preceded by a glass of wine and canapes. Those who attended the exhibition on the Minster Library last year will remember Darell's excellent introduction to that event.
