Foulis Castle: a treasure trove of history and romance

Guided Tour | Foulis Castle

Wednesday 15 July 2015 - 14:30 until 17:00

Foulis Castle is the home of Mrs. Patrick Munro, the hostess and guide for this event. Steeped in history, the site has been the home of Clan Munro since the 11th Century, when their ancestors came over from Ireland to assist King Malcolm II to rid the country of the Danes. They were granted the lands of Ferindonald as their reward. The Clan has been at the heart of Scotland's colourful history and the Castle has many stories to tell through its architecture, family portraits, Chinese porcelain and other very special objects.

The original castle was razed to the ground and a new house built in the grand style in the mid 18th Century overlooking a lovely courtyard garden, lawns and the Cromarty Firth.

This event has been organised by the Highlands Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
