This textile hanging was commissioned for the interior of the Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry by the architect Eugene Rosenberg of the firm Yorke Rosenberg Mardall.

It was screen printed by the Edinburgh Weavers (1920s-60s), the experimental arm of the textile company Morton Sundour Fabrics Ltd. The striking design of floating lines and circles is a rare example of textile work for an artist most closely associated with painting, for example Scott's large mural for the hospital, 'Four Seasons' (1959). It is from an edition of four. Purchased by the Art Fund with the assistance of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

Provenance

Private collection; Francesca Galloway.
