This George II cup is of exceptional size and is ornamented entirely in the rococo manner with foliage and vine decoration.

The arms of its original owner have been erased, presumably because the cup came on the market in the early 19th century.

Provenance

William Lewis Hughes (1767-1835); Sir Ernest Cassel; then by descent.
