Gold torcs of this date were highly significant and rare symbols of wealth and power. This torc comes from the same field as another Bronze Age gold torc found in 1960 and also purchased by Reading Museum with the help of the Art Fund (see Review number 2060).
Provenance
Found in 2001 by a metal detectorist in a field near Moulsford, Oxfordshire; declared Treasure in December 2002.
