Made for the diarist in Paris where he went after Italy before returning to England in 1649. Perhaps by the famous Dutch cabinet-maker Pierre Golle.

Throughout closure, the Geffrye's restored almshouse will remain open for tours and a full programme of events will be run in the front gardens.
