One of the smaller of the 3 similar sets from the Lomellini silver.

Both have decorative schemes illustrating the loves of the gods, and may have been intended as marriage pieces. The lighthouse to the right of the centre medallion is the Lanterna or Torre di Faro, Genoa. By a Flemish goldsmith in Genoa. Another ewer and basin from the Lomellini silver was acquired by the V&A in 1974 with a grant from the Art Fund.
