Brooch composed of a framework of bronze cells enclosing bosses of shell with garnet eyes, & panels of gold filigree & garnets on gold foil backing with blue glass insertions.

All are mounted together on a silver backplate & bound with a gold rim.

Provenance

Found in a woman's grave at Monkton on the Isle of Thanet during the course of drainage works; M.R.Baxter.
