A pair of screens depicting 'The Flowers of the Four Seasons'.

The sixfold screens are richly decorated with flowers, trees and birds in colours on a ground of gold leaf and illustrate how Shijo artists, like Seiki, captured the appearance of nature, whilst maintaining the traditional use of carefully structured composition and decorative gold background.
