It bears an image of the 17th century mansion Wisbech Castle built circa 1658 for John Thurloe, Cromwell's Secretary of State. Since demolished. Stitched by Jane Jessurp, who married Richard Pechover of Fakenham (whose son built Peckover House).
Richard Pechover of Fakenham; by descent to Jane (Jessup) Peckover's great-grandson Alexander Peckover; by descent to A J P Penrose, Christie's 1982.
